Treasure Adventure Game Review

Adventure! Treasure! Fame! That is what people dream of… and that is what this game lets you act out. Treasure Adventure Game (or TAG for short) is an open-world platform adventure game that was two years in the making. What a good use of two years though!

There are two things that give this game a great presentation – the beautiful (kind of reminds me of Terraria!) pixel art and the catchy old style music that sounds like it is twenty years old. The sound effects are good enough – they are simple yet get the job done without getting annoying – but they don’t measure up to the music and graphics. The story is a bit cliché in some parts (Amnesia being the standout) yet the game hides it well and so the story still manages to be pretty intriguing nonetheless. I won’t say much so I don’t spoil the story!

There could be more of a tutorial which might help out with the fact that the controls are a little on the odd and unwieldy side (it took me a while to learn them). I believe that the greatest achievement of this game is the fact that it really encourages exploration in its huge and detailed world. Something new is around every corner. The interactivity of the environment is neat too. I once grabbed an apple off a tree to restore some of my health. I also jumped onto a tree and fell into somebody’s chimney. It really reminds me of Zelda II except that TAG isn’t as difficult, and I am really glad for that.

The game is also stable and I personally haven’t ran into any glitches or crashes with it. Treasure Adventure Game is fresh and new and worth playing for sure!
